Sarah W. Gaymon presents

The 1999 Punkin Chunkin (which I am told is featured in the latest Recreation News, a fine free tabloid available in various federal buildings) will be held November 6 and 7 in Delaware.

It appears that the official web site of the 1999 Punkin Chunkin has no links. None. Zip. Therefore, I recommend that you go to the UNofficial Punkin Chunkin web site:

for information and links to maps of the exact location of this year's Chunkin.

Losers wishing to attend both days will need some place to stay overnight on November 6. The Official Loser Hotel is the Admiral Hotel at 2 Baltimore Ave. in Rehoboth Beach. They have plenty of accommodations available and do not require a 2-night minimum for the Chunkin weekend (they might be the only ones who don't.) The place has plenty of parking, is clean, has an indoor pool, and is very near the ocean. Room rates range from $64 to $89 (plus a state room tax of 8%, I believe) but you can get 10% off with AAA. There may be other discounts available. I would suggest making your reservation as soon as possible. The Admiral Hotel has a toll-free number: (888) 882-4188. It is NOT necessary to identify oneself as part of any particular group while making reservations at the Admiral Hotel for the 1999 Loser Punkin Chunkin Road Trip. A one-night deposit is required for reservations.

Let me know if you're planning to attend. To go to a Chunkin is to become a True Believer.

I almost forgot to mention the Key Search Contest. The rules are simple. Find the keys to a red Pontiac Grand Am (carefully concealed somwhere on the beach in 1998) and YOU WIN THE CAR! Yes, folks, if you find those keys, you can unlock the car and drive it home! (Or to a chop shop somewhere, whatever you want.) No purchase necessary to win. No fair grabbing Kondis by the ankles and shaking him upside down over the balcony rail until his NEW set of car keys falls out of his pocket.
